Click "Background Fill" button, below are 5 small squares: None, Color, Gradient, Texture and Picture in order.

①Solid color: click "Color", and the color selector box will pop up. You can select the color mode and the grid mode.

HSV is a color system that is even more commonly used in people's lives, on TV remote controls, in drawing palettes, because it fits better with the way people describe color - what color it is, how dark it is, how bright it is.

H - Hue, is what we usually call red, green, if you divide it more finely, there may be magenta, grass green, etc.; in the HSV model, the hue is described in degrees, where red corresponds to 0 degrees, green corresponds to 120 degrees, blue corresponds to 240 degrees.

S - Saturation, the shade of color (0-100%), for a color such as red, we can use pink, scarlet, blood-red, purplish red to describe it, corresponding to the time of painting watercolor that is a pigment plus different portions of water to form a different saturation.

V - Value, is the purity, brightness of the color (0-100%), this is more common when adjusting the screen brightness.

After setting the desired color value and other parameters, click ''OK'' to finish the relevant color settings.

We see the letters R, G, and B at the top of the color picker, which is the most commonly used color palette in computers, R for Red, G for Green, and B for Blue. Through the input RGB value, red, green and blue light source mixed together in a certain amount, to form a color.

In the grid mode, the preview effect will appear when the you click the color to be filled. If the color is what we want, click "confirm" below the color selector.

The color selection of grid mode is shown in the picture below:

In Color selection mode, click the small circle on the right color column to select a range of colors. Move the circle in the color box to select different colors. As shown in the picture below:

CMYK: printing four-color mode is a color printing mode, using the principle of mixing the three primary colors, plus black ink, a total of four colors mixed and superimposed, forming a "full-color printing" four standard colors are: C: Cyan, also known as 'sky blue ' or 'blue'; M: Magenta ; Y: Yellow; K: blacK, CMYK is a print used to rely on reflective of color patterns. The CMYK format can be used in the production of printed materials.

②Gradient: click "Gradient", the gradient selector box will pop up. We can see that there is a color bar on the top, and the gradient mode can be set as linear gradient, radial gradient, and fan-shaped gradient. Let's use the grid mode to illustrate the effects of different gradient modes.

In the Gradient editor, the color scale is the red triangle icon under the gradient band in the image. The "color" above is used to edit the color scale. Click the small circle, and the red triangle will follow the movement, click the color you need and drag the color label shows a different gradient effect.

Click on the blank space of the gradient area to add the gradient icon. Drag the gradient icon to the left to delete it. There should be at least two colors in the gradient area.

Gradient direction setting: Click the direction setting box, with the red dot as the center, move back and forth to create different gradient styles.

The linear gradient effect is as follows:

A radial gradient means click to define the center of the circle, the direction of the mouse stroke is in the direction of the outward radius. The rendering is as follows:

Fan-shaped gradients start at the point where the lines are underlined and follow the direction of a full circle. The rendering is as follows:

③Texture: click "texture", you can choose rice paper, cloth, stone, metal, leather, wood, carpet, natural, wallpaper, map, shape, Polaris, ripple, the following picture is the effect of an image in golden texture.

④ Picture: click "Picture", you can choose local files, images online, albums online and other pictures, you can directly click the right picture bar and browse the material in your computer when using local pictures.

3.2.2 Image adjusting

3.2.4 Rotate the canvas

Click "Canvas Rotate" in the right attribute bar, click "- 90°" and "+ 90°" at the bottom to rotate the canvas in the direction.

3.2.5 Layer tools

Layer style is a set of editable properties given to the object, you can set different properties for a single object, often used in graphic design, poster production.

Mixed mode: means that when the image is overlaid, the pixels of the layer above and below are mixed to get another image effect.

1)Normal

Each pixel edited in normal mode will directly form the result color, which is the default mode and the initial state of the image. In this mode, you can adjust the parameters of layer opacity and layer fill value to show the next layer in different degrees.

2) Darken

Darken mode compares the brightness between the drawn color and the base color when blending, and the colors that are brighter than the base color are replaced, and the colors that are darker than the base color remain unchanged. In darken mode, view the color information of each channel and select the darker color of the base color and the mixed color as the result color.

3) Multiply

Multiply mode is used to view the color information in each channel, and it can be used to create a slide effect of light penetrating the layer. In fact, the base color is multiplied by the mixed color, and then divided by 255, you get the color value of the result color, the result color is always darker than the original color.

4) Color Deepen

Color deepen mode is used to view the color information of each channel to make the base color darker so as to show the mixed color of the current layer.

5) Lighten

Lighten mode has the opposite result of color deepen mode. By comparing the base color with the mixed color, pixels that are darker than the mixed color are replaced and pixels that are brighter than the mixed color are left unchanged, thus giving the whole image a brightening effect.

6) Screen

Screen mode is the opposite of the multiply mode, which looks at the color information of each channel and combines the base color of the image with the mixed color to produce a third color that is lighter than both colors, which is the blending effect obtained by multiplying the drawn color with the complementary color of the base color and dividing by 255. The color of the effect converted by this mode is usually very light, as if it had been bleached, and the resulting color is always a brighter color. When processing the image, sometimes the picture is underexposed and the whole is dark, you can use the screen mode, you can clearly see that the whole image will become brighter.

7) Fade

Fade mode is used to view the color information of each channel, by reducing the contrast to make the base color brighter, thus reflecting the blended color. The layer order affects the result. The brighter ones become brighter and the darker ones become less bright, reducing the contrast.

8) Linear Fade

Linear fade mode has the opposite effect of fade mode, it lightens the color by increasing the brightness, producing a brightening effect that is stronger than both screen mode and fade mode. It works by looking at the color information of each channel and then reflecting the mixed color by increasing the brightness to make the base color brighter.

Color information in the image is minimized when mixing with white; mixing with black does not change.

9) Overlay

Overlay mode is actually a blending mode of multiply mode and screen mode. This mode is to superimpose the mixed color and the base color on each other, which means that the underlying image controls the layer above it and can make it lighter or darker. Areas darker than 50% will be darkened using the multiply mode, and areas brighter than 50% will be brightened using the screen mode.

10) Soft

The effect of the soft mode is similar to that of a diffused spotlight shining on an image. This mode determines whether the final effect of the image will be lighter or darker depending on the lightness or darkness of the mixed color. If the mixed color is brighter than the base color, the resulting color will be brighter.

11) Strong

Strong mode is a combination of multiply mode and screen mode. It produces a glare effect, which determines whether the final effect is lighter or darker depending on how light or dark the current layer color is. If the mixed color is brighter than the pixels of the base color, then the result is brighter; if the mixed color is darker than the pixels of the base color, then the result is darker. This mode is essentially similar to soft mode, except that its effect is a bit more intense. In strong mode, pixels in the current layer that are brighter than 50% gray will make the image brighter; pixels that are darker than 50% gray will make the image darker, but pure black and pure white in the current layer will remain unchanged.

12) Different

The different mode compares the brightness of the mixed color with the base color. The pixel value of the brighter color is subtracted from the pixel value of the darker color, and the resulting difference is the pixel value of the final effect.

13) Exclusion

The exclusion mode is similar to the different mode, but the exclusion mode has high contrast and low saturation, and the effect is softer and brighter than the different mode. When white is used as the mixed color, the image is rendered by reversing the base color; when black is used as the mixed color, the image does not change.

14) Introduction of layer style window:

Layer style is different from the curve color scale and other direct changes to the object pixel editing method, but similar to the current version of the [shadow] or [mixed mode]. That is, the layer style does not directly change the pixel of the object, but on the object superimposed on a number of "style" can be adjusted separately parameters.

Mixed options preview:

① Bevel and Emboss

The bevel and emboss include inner bevel, outer bevel, smooth, clear and soft emboss. Although they are in the same options, the results produced are very different.

②Stroke

Use color, gradient color, or pattern to paint the outline of an object, text, or shape on the current layer, for shapes with sharp edges.

③Inner Shadow

Add a shadow to the inner edge of an object, text, or shape to give the layer a sunken appearance; the inner shadow effect works better for text objects.

④Inner Glow

Add a glowing effect from the edges of a layer object, text, or shape inward.

⑤ Satin

Apply a shadow to the inside of the layer object, interacting with the shape of the object, usually creating a regular wave shape, producing a smooth polished and metallic effect.

⑥Color Overlay

Overlay a color on the layer object, i.e. fills the object with a layer of solid color to which the style is applied. You can select any color from the "Set Overlay Color" option via the "Select Overlay Color" dialog box.

⑦Gradient Overlay

Overlay a gradient color on the layer object, i.e. fills the object with a layer of gradient color. You can also choose to use other gradient colors through the Gradient Editor.

⑧ Pattern Overlay

Overlay a pattern on the layer object, i.e. fills the object with a consistent repeating pattern. Additional patterns can be selected from the "Pattern Picker".

⑨ Outer Glow

Add a glowing effect from the edges of a layer object, text or shape to the outside, with a facility parameter to make the object, text or shape more beautiful.

⑩Projection

Add a shadow effect to the back of the object, text or shape on the layer. The projection parameters are "Mixed", "Opacity", "Angle", "Distance", "Expand" and "Size", etc. By setting these options you can get the desired effect.

3.4.2.3 Brightness and Contrast

Overview: Brightness refers to the light and shade degree of the picture, contrast refers to the difference between the dark and bright image, that is, the difference between the maximum/minimum gray level of the image. This function can adjust the brightness/contrast of the image, so that the image has a clear light and dark effect.

Method:

After selecting the object, click "Brightness/Contrast" in "Attribute" on the right. In the command box that pops up, drag the pointer to the left or right under the scroll bar or directly input a value. As you drag the pointer to the canvas area, the image preview will appear. Adjust the object's brightness and contrast according to the effect you want, and click "Confirm" below to apply the effect. As shown in the picture below:

Click Curve, drag the diagonal line to make comprehensive adjustment to the picture, click "Confirm" below to apply. As shown in the picture below:

The curve is constructed as follows: the gray scale on the horizontal axis corresponds to the distribution of the brightness value in the original image, and the vertical axis corresponds to the distribution of the edited brightness value. If we open the dialog box, we will see that the "curve" always goes along a standard diagonal line. In other words, the curve goes in the same direction before and after editing. We can set points on the curve by clicking on this line. These points can be moved up, down, left or right. The bottom left area corresponds to the dark tones in the image, the top right area corresponds to the highlights, and the middle area corresponds to the middle tones.

■ If the curve bents upwards to the left, it will increase the overall brightness of the image, as darker tones are now turned to brighter ones.

■ If the curve bents to the bottom right, the overall brightness of the image decreases, as brighter tones are switched to darker tones.

■ If the upper right curve bents upwards (brightening) and the lower left curve is bent downwards (darkening), the contrast in the middle of the image will be improved. This is because the lighter tones are further brightened and the darker tones are further dimmed. In other words, the difference between the brighter and darker areas of the image becomes larger. This curve is S-shaped.

■ If the curve moves in the opposite direction, in the shape of a question mark, the result is the opposite: brighter tones are darkened, darker tones are brightened, and the image's contrast is reduced and gray.

3.5. Add a selection

Overview:

The selection is divided into regular and irregular. All selections that can be defined by shapes are regular ones, such as rectangles, squares, circles, and so on. In addition to regular selection are irregular ones, as the name implies: there is no specific shape, such as polygons, lasso, etc.

Features: The selection is a closed dashed (ant line) area, it can be any shape, there is no open selection. Once the selection is created, most operations are only valid within the selection. To operate on the entire image, you must first deselect the selection.

Ant line: The selection is a closed area of dashed lines, which are also called ant lines because they resemble a swarm of moving ants. Within a layer, the area surrounded by the ant line is editable, and the area outside the ant line is not editable. Example: Once you have chosen your selection, you can move, enlarge, shrink, delete, create a new selection layer, and so on.

Method:

You can add a selection to a canvas or object. We use the rectangular marquee tool as an example.

After the picture is inserted, click the small white triangle IMG_402 in the function bar on the left side, and different shape models will appear. The corresponding text will appear when you lightly placed on each icon (as shown below). You can choose the shape according to the characteristics of the picture and your own needs.

Click the rectangular marquee, click and hold the button at an appropriate position in the image, drag to draw the desired selection, release the button, you will see a flowing dashed line around the area, and the dashed line trace outlined is the selected area. After selecting a selection, the attribute settings on the right of the selection include: selection method, parameter settings, selection information and operation.

1) Selection method: refers to the method of selection. As shown in the following picture, the order is: new, select all, add, reduce, public, and different set.

① New selection: This is to create a new selection. Click "New" on the right toolbar. In the state of new selection, the new selection will replace the original selection, which is equivalent to re select after deselecting. This feature can also be used to deselect an existing selection by simply clicking the selection tool in the image. The diagram below:

② Select all: select the whole picture. Click "Select All" on the right toolbar to edit the whole picture.

③ Add selection: As the name implies, add selection area. Click "Add" on the right toolbar. There are two ways to add a selection. First, if the new selection is outside the old one, two closed flowing dashed boxes will be formed.

As below:

Second: the new selection and the old selection intersect each other, then only a dotted box appears.

As below:

④ Reduce the selection: this is to reduce the selection of areas. Click "Reduce" on the right toolbar. There are three ways to reduce the selection. First, if the new selection is outside the old selection, it will have no effect.

Second, if the new selection intersects the old selection, the area where they intersect is subtracted. As below:

Third, If the new selection is within the old selection, it will form a hollow selection. As below:

⑤ Public: this is to retain the intersection of the two selection, click on the right toolbar "intersection", in the original selection draw a intersecting new rectangular marquise.

As below:

⑥ Different set: it is the part outside the intersection of the new and old selection. Click the button on the right toolbar "difference set" to draw a new rectangular selection box at the original selection.

As below:

The above selection tools are common to all methods, and apply to any selection tool.

Parameter setting (feather depth) : refers to the range of the selection feather, in pixels (px) value. Click to input numbers or click up and down the small arrow can adjust the feather value.

The feather is to make the edges of the selection soft, so that the image inside the selection can naturally transit to the image outside , in order to achieve a good fusion. The feather value depends on the experience. The larger the feather value, the wider the blur range, and the color becomes soft. On the contrary, the smaller the feather value, the narrower the blur range.

Selection information: Displays the pixels, position, size, color and percentage of the selection range in the whole picture.

It can also be used to analyze the material composition in the minerals:

Selection operation: refers to the operation done on the selection. As shown in the picture below is: move, copy, deselect, image clipping, fill, delete, cancel, canvas clipping.

① Move: refers to the adjustment of the location of the selection. Click "Move" under "Selection Operation" in the right toolbar, place the cursor in the selection, hold down and drag to move to the new position, and the size of the selection will remain unchanged after moving.

And when your cursor is placed in the selection, the adjustment box will appear around the original selection, you can adjust the size of the selection.

② Copy: Click "Copy" under "Selection Operation" in the right toolbar, and the contents in the selected shape will be copied on the canvas.

As below:

③ Reverse: select all parts except the current selected range, for example, there is a picture, there is a person, a bird, there is a white background. When you have chosen the person, click "Reverse" means choosing: the picture without this person.

④Crop: click "Crop", only retain the content of the selection. As below:

⑤Fill: only for the selection of the image to fill, with solid color, gradient, texture, pattern, the following is the effect of filling the solid color. As below:

⑥Delete: click "delete" under the "selection operation", the contents of the selection will be eliminated. As below:

⑦Cancel: namely cancel the selection. After the click the original selection will be eliminated.

⑧Canvas Crop: cut the area outside the selection, keep the part of the selection. Click "Cut" to retain part of the image in the selection. As below:

Irregular selection tool

1) Magic Pen: it is mainly used to select areas with similar colors. For some images with obvious demarcation lines, the magic stick can quickly cut out the images.

When the line is clear, you can directly use the tool. As an example, we here use the magic stick to select part of the image of a black dress.

Click the magic pen IMG_425 in the function bar on the left, move to the object, and click a point on the black dress, set tolerance, then the black dress will be selected.

At this moment, we can move, fill, delete and do other operations on the selected area. The following is the filling image effect:

The second one is used when you want to select by skip, in other words when you want to select non-adjacent pixels in the photo, such as the blue sky that is not adjacent to each other in the photo below. Click on the Magic Stick and make sure the tree layer in the canvas is selected. Then move to the canvas and click anywhere in the blue sky in the photo. You can see the area inside the ant line is circled, as shown below:

Click "add", you may find that the mouse pointer changes, the magic pen appears a "+", which means it is to add selection, based on the original selection, it adds new selection area, click other blue area, the stick selects the blue pixels that are next to each other.

Click "reduce", is to minus the selection, and the most obvious feature is the lower left corner of the mouse pointer appears "-", click the selected area, the original selection will be cleared up, as shown in the figure below:

Here we focus on the "tolerance" of the magic stick, which is not involved in other selection tools. The most important attribute of the magic stick is "tolerance". It is the allowable error, in this case the allowable range value, which is actually the approximation in the automatic selection of similar selection.

In magic stick, "Tolerance" under "Parameter Settings" can be filled within a value of 0-255. The smaller the value, the more similar the selected color is to the color at the click, and the smaller the selection range is. Conversely, the higher the value, the greater the difference between the selected color and the color at the point of click, and the greater the selection range. So it is necessary to set the tolerance properly.

2) Lasso: there are many special shapes in the process of graphics. In this case, the lasso can be of great help in depicting the edges of the contour, so as to select the irregular shape. The lasso is useful for drawing hand-drawn line segments for the borders of a selection. It allows you to quickly create the general selection that you want, which is much more flexible than rectangle and ellipse.

Lasso can be like a brush, draw through the cursor movement (forming a selection), after drawing, the selection can be adjusted, fill and etc. When you click lasso, the mouse pointer will change to a lasso style, click and hold the mouse over the layer to draw the selection. We import a material image, select lasso, shown as below:

We hold the button (can't let go) and drag along the edge of the main body, will generate line with no anchor point (also known as the fastening point), along the butterfly's outline, start tracing. Release the button only after the line is closed, otherwise the head and tail will automatically close. And then you circle the butterfly.

3) Polygon: This tool is one of the lasso, which can form straight lines between points. It is a relatively straight tool, and can overlap the end and end to generate a selection. Therefore, it is generally used to cut some regular shapes, such as books, tables, windows and so on.

The polygonal lasso can be used by clicking the mouse, moving it to another place, and clicking again to form a straight line segment, which will eventually be closed, the same way as the lasso above.

Swipe the mouse over the edge of the object in turn, it will form a straight line connected to the anchor point, when the ends connect, there shows a dot, the last click will produce a closed selection. Click the key points on the screen to connect them in a straight line, and then the polygon area can be formed. The final effect is as follows:

3) Color range: by specifying the color or gray level to create a selection, you can accurately set the color and tolerance to control the selection range. An image with a solid background, a non-solid background with a gradient, or some slight color difference is adoptable.

Click the color range button, move it to the canvas area, click the color to be selected, and set the tolerance range and emergence depth.

The following is when green is selected:

"New", "Select All", "Intersection", "difference Set" in "Selection Mode" under selection Settings; "Feather Depth" and "Selection Operation" in "Parameter Settings" are all general functions, please see the rectangle selection instructions above.

3.20.3 Color Scale

Color scale is an exponential standard for the brightness of an image, which is also known as the color index. In digital image processing tutorials, it refers to the grayscale resolution (also known as amplitude resolution). The color fullness and fineness of the image are determined by the color level. It refers to the brightness but has nothing to do with the color, although the brightest is only white, the least bright is only black.

Click "Scale", you can choose "Auto", "Advanced" on the right. Among them, “Advanced” is available for the ordinary member above.

Let’s specifically introduce the use of “Advanced”:

When you select the "Gray" channel, PhotoSir will convert the original image (color) into gray level image, and extract relevant values to display in the "Color Scale Setting" interface.

Unlike other software, PhotoSir display the percentage of pixels of different levels in the "input level" histogram. Up to 4 levels are displayed. Values less than 0.01 are not displayed.

3.20.4 Binary

Image Binarization is to set the gray value of the pixels on the image to 0 or 255, that is, the whole image presents a clear black and white effect.

In digital image processing, binary image plays a very important role. The binary image reduces the amount of data in a image greatly, so that the contour of the target can be highlighted.

PhotoSir extends the concept of image binarization. The target output image can contain not only 0 or 255, but also any 2 different colors, even transparent color output.

Click "Binary", you can select "Auto" and "Custom" on the right. Among them, “Custom” is available for the ordinary member above.

Firstly, locate Matting Signature in the left area of homepage, shown as below:

Click to select the picture with the signature required, in the blink of an eye, the operation is done.

You can save the writing as different types, such as PDF, PNG, JPG and etc. On the right side, there’s also some adjustment you can make. For example, choose a different color or switch to different filters. As you can see, the operation is as easy as pie.

Next time when you need to send workmates a signed document, just open PhotoSir and generate your own e-signature.

8.2. Color Scale

Take the following photo as an example, you can use level adjustment to create a fancy photo by PhotoSir.

According to the input color levels, the darkest brightness of the photo is less than 0, which is between 15 and 20. The percentage of dark part is 75%, much higher than that of light part. The overall picture is dark, and there is not enough contrast.

Firstly move the black field slider to 18 so that the darkest part of the photo had a brightness value of 0 (pure black). As you can see, the contrast of the photo has increased.

Then move the medium gray slider to the left to make the photo less dark and more light.

In this way, we get a more detailed photo. As can be seen from the histogram at this time, the ratio of pixels at the right bright part is too small. We can move the white field slider left, as shown below:

It enhances the light part and makes the photo more sunny. Here's a before and after comparison.

After repeated modification and polishing, a picture of smooth face is done! You don’t need to be afraid of the spots!

8.5. Artistic

"Artistic" means "to depict or treat in an attitudinal, nonrepresentational way". It is a complete simulation of real art techniques.

In many cases, as opposed to realism, it refers to the way in which the artist deviates from the original impression when describing and interpreting an event or object. It is a concrete expression of the diversity of artistic creation. For example, in the shooting scene of a movie, some directors may blast a lot of blood and violence, while some directors may deliberately avoid the reality, and describe a look, a few pigeons, no whistling bullets, but thrilling as the same.

IMG_631

From the perspective of designing, many elements are based on the concept of artistic to a great extent. From furniture design, to clothing, to electronic art and architecture.

You can look around and observe.....

For example, the real apple and the artistic "apple" (as below) :

IMG_632

If you haven't heard the term of "artistic", take a look at these images:

IMG_633

Original image

IMG_634

Normal image

IMG_635

The result of blending original art styles into normal pictures

That’s the process of “artistic”!

It can also be called style transferring, that is, the style of an image with artistic characteristics is transferred to an ordinary image, so that the image retains the original content, mixed with a unique artistic style as well, such as cartoon, cartoon, oil painting, watercolor, ink and so on.

Is this the feature we've all been waiting for? We are studying in the art major, how to make a photo more artistic, or turn the photo into a sketch or cartoon? PhotoSir's new feature will give your "random shots" a touch of art, producing a painterly or impressionistic picture.

Click on the desired effect, and the image area will display the effect.

Take a look at adding a Artistic effect only to the background.Open the image, click "Copy" and "Paste", and the same two images will appear. Hold down the Ctrl key to select both images and click on the alignment to make the two images coincide exactly, as shown below:

Click the object list on the right, and we can see that there are two objects. Click "subject" to put the object name for distinguishing.

Select layer 1, click "Matting Online" in the right area, comes out the main image of the character, and the preview image can also be seen in the object list.

Next we select Layer 2 to add a stylized effect to the underlying image using the same method as above, which we won't repeat here.

We found that some parts of the portrait don’t coordinate with the background during matting. We can hold down the button and click the "Restore Foreground" brush in "Brush". Move to the image area and daub the areas that need to be modified.
